Dia de los Difuntos

… meaning Day of the Deceased, a most respectful  term. Throughout the rural communities of the Andes in Peru, it is a families’ tradition to gather by their relative’s grave to share a meal with the deceased. Their belief is that the dead relatives’ souls will visit the earth, and there needs to be plenty of his/her favorite food for the sould to continue on their respective journeys.  It is typically a most reverend, colorful and joyful celebration.
